Francisca Candelas, age 89, passed away on March 10th, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones in the comfort of her home. 
 
Francisca was born on Christmas Eve December 24, 1934, in Zacatecas, MX, she was the beloved daughter of Hilario Pinedo and Maria Herrera.
 
Francisca was a devoted Catholic whose faith guided her throughout her life. She served the church community at St. Agnes of Bohemia for many years, leaving a memorable mark with her unwavering dedication.
 
A loving mother, grandmother, sister, and wife, Francisca's warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. She took joy in the simple pleasures of life, cultivating beautiful gardens, singing melodies from her heart, knitting for her loved ones with skillful hands, and cooking delicious meals for her cherished family. Her salsa, a family treasure, will forever be unmatched. A free spirit with a playful demeanor, she found joy in playing Loteria, Rummikub, Conquian, and Poker with her loved ones.
 
Francisca was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roberto Candelas, her cherished son, Gregorio Candelas, and her dear granddaughter Martha Candelas. She is survived by her loving children:

She is also survived by her adoring 26 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, who will carry on her legacy of love and warmth. Francisca is further survived by her brothers Ramon Pinedo and Lazaro Pinedo, as well as her extended San Diego and San Antonio families.
 
Visitation services will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at M. Martinez Funeral Home, 5800 W. 63rd St., Chicago, IL. 
 
A solemn funeral service will take place on Wednesday, March 20, at 8:30 AM at M. Martinez Funeral Home, followed by a Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Bede the Venerable, 8200 South Kostner Avenue, Chicago, IL 60652. 
 
Francisca will be laid to rest at Resurrection, 7201 Archer Rd, Justice, IL 60458.
